78′ here, suitable for the times , a bright and light jazz album was completed🎵

アルバムの中でも、このスローな哀愁のある曲は、過ぎていく夏に合う曲です。

当時、私はロック好きな高校生でした、友達に借りた、このアルバムは、ジャズアルバムとしては、異例の大ヒットになってました、渡辺貞夫さんが45才頃の出世作です、

カリフォルニアシャワーは、イントロから明るく、ポップで、メロディアスなサックスが心地よい、まさに、カリフォルニアで太陽のシャワーを浴びてる様な気持ちになる、サウンドでした🎵🎷

しかし、この作品に至るまでが、御本人がコメントされている様に、紆余曲折があり、挫折、試行錯誤を繰り返された様です、

バークリー音楽大学を中退された後、本場のジャズに触れる中で、日本人がジャズをプレイする事の限界や(嘘っぽさ)を感じておられたのではないでしょうか？

その後、ボサノバ奏者の Gary McFarlanとの出会い等を経て、78′ にDave Grusinをプロデューサーに迎えて、当時26才ぐらいのギタリスト、リーリトナー等と共に、時代にあった、明るく、心地よい、ジャズアルバムを世に出しました。
